I second it, it would be really nice to get a course on this side of town.

I Believe that if you have a plan and a map of where you want the course to sit, all you need to do is make an appointment with the director of kern county parks Bob Laruede, his assistant director or the park supervisor for buena vista lake. Bob Laruede thinks disc golf is a great thing for hart park. If a course was to be installed at buena vista lake it would increase revenue at the park with the gate fees. The parks department would be very interested in any kind of new revenue steam it could create in these tough budget times. If you have the plan and the money it would happen.

Good Luck
May the disc golf deities smile upon your endeavor

I thought about a course at BV too. Even looked at aerial maps and stuff for possible layouts.  I do think HP should be finished prior to any other endeavors though...

Most ppl don't have lots of courses, they have one.  That's the one that they spend blood sweat and tears into and make really nice. (think tee signs, benches, retaining walls, trash cans etc.)  Look at Fresno, V-town and Sylmar as examples of going the extra mile.  A course can be more than tee pads and baskets.

Just my 2 cents.  A course at BV would be cool, but unless you plan on hosting the Worlds or something I don't see the point in dumping all that cash into another course.  It takes about 10 grand just for materials, that's just bare minimal stuff.

As far as the county goes, ultimately Bob is the guy, but Vicki, his secretary, is who you would have to talk to and she isn't always pleasant, just ask Rocky.  You'd need to talk to the Park supervisor and superintendent for the lake and would have to sign a park agreement and provide the park with a bunch of paperwork and purchase insurance etc.  A LOT of work went into HP behind the scenes to get that thing done.

So I was out at BV all day yesterday. Where exactly do you think there is room for a course out there?  And why would people want to drive all of the want out there and pay $6 per car to play a mediocre course?  If you could even convince the county to give up a bunch of the picnic areas to make a course, it's not wooded enough to be able to make a course that would be anything special.
